The aim of the conference is to raise €7.5bn to develop diagnostics, treatments and vaccines and deploy them to every corner of the world at an affordable price.

Key Messages

  • To fight the coronavirus, the world urgently needs effective and safe diagnostics, treatments and vaccines - without these we all remain vulnerable.
  • The European Commission has made a significant contribution to the Coronavirus Global Response pledge with €1 billion mobilised by Horizon 2020
  • Together, we are stronger: EU research and innovation brings Europe’s leading scientists and innovators together to coordinate efforts across the EU and beyond to tackle the coronavirus crisis
  • The crisis requires a response of unprecedented scale, speed and solidarity - the global research and innovation community is already mobilised but we need to do more

At April 09th, our consortium, our ESRs, the project manager and our project officer met to discuss the current progress of the project. In particular, every site and the ESRs introcced themselves and the coordinator and the officer held presentations. We are very happy for the positive criticism :-).

From June 25th to June 28th 2019, we hold our first MINOA PhD school. This year's topic is "Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Optimization meets Data Science" and there will be various lectures about Deep Learning, Clustering in >Big Data, Machine Learning for Combinatorial Optimization and Support Vector Machines. Furthermore, we will have industrial sessions from Pierre Bonami (IBM) and Joachiqum Gromicho (ORTEC). The school will take place on Ischia, Italy.

The predecessor of the MINOA project was MINO. And one of the MINO fellows, Jonas Schweiger, received the Dissertation Award 2018 from the German Operations Research Society GOR for dissertation "Exploiting structure in non-convex quadratic optimization and gas network planning under uncertainty"! Congratulations!
